Baltic Sea Anomaly

Today we will be exploring the speculation, conspiracy and ‘possible’ (?) reality of the Baltic Sea Anomaly.

Firstly, where and what are we talking about.

Where?

The anomaly is found in the Baltic Sea (hence the name) in the centre of the Gulf of Bothnia. It rests or protrudes from the bottom of the Sea at a depth of 91 meters (almost 300 feet). Stockholm being the nearest large city in proximity.

It was discovered by Peter Lindberg, Dennis Åberg and the Swedish “Ocean X” diving team using sonar imaging in June 2011.

What?

Originally the finders stated they imaged a 60-metre (200 ft) diameter circular rock-like formation which had characteristics similar to ramps, stairs and other non-biological traits. One such trait was that upon returning to the cite to gain clearer images the anomaly was said to have shut down all electrical equipment.

Internet pundits and tabloid journals jumped on this anomaly and speculated that it was either a UFO, a portal into another world, remnants of a lost civilisation or an underwater Stonehenge.
