Trust

From what I have heard about life,

You know liberty and justice for all.

To thine own self be true,

Above and beyond the call.

It all seems good and well,

Believable if you like?

But downward we sink and fall,

Grasping at the light.

The pit is what awaits,

Our morality and social decor.

While man he contemplates

and the fire continues to roar.

A tear falls from his eye.

As reality finally sets in.

Then he reaches for the sky,

Wading through mortal sin.

We all cannot be perfect,

But strive for grace we must.

Live our lives to their best

And in something give our trust.
